USPA NEWS - From September 25 to September 27, the City of Lyon (France) hosted an Important Chinese Delegation of Officials and Businesses, for the Cultural Chinese and French Forum. The famous 'Silk Road' has long been the Trademark of the relations between both Countries. This was the Second Sino-French Cultural Forum.
From September 25 to September 27, the City of Lyon (France) hosted an Important Chinese Delegation of Officials and Businesses, for the Cultural Chinese and French Forum. The famous 'Silk Road' has long been the Trademark of the relations between both Countries. This was the Second Sino-French Cultural Forum. The first Sino-French Cultural Forum was held in May 2016 in Beijing.

Lyon has a Rich History involving the Silk Industry that has impacted the Architecture of the City and shaped the Economy as well. There are many Locations still alive today that one can visit to understand the History of Lyon and the still Booming Silk Industry.

Louis XI chose to begin establishing silk Manufactures in Lyon in 1466. After this, two Italian Men moved to Lyon to capitalize on the new Silk Market and opened Schools to teach Young French Girls how to weave Silk. As the Industry began to grow, the King of France at the time, Francois I, granted Lyon to be the Monopoly of Manufacturing Silk for the Country and therefore made Lyon somewhat the Capital of Silk in France where all imported Silk from other Countries had to fist pass through Lyon....

* Septembre 26, 2017 :
-) Inauguration of the Exhibit by Artist Li Xin at 'Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois'
-) Vernissage of Ceramics from Dehua with Opening Ceremony of the "Prix International de la Céramique 'Blanc de Chine'" at Confluences Museum

* September 27, 2017 :
-) The 'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts', the 'Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Techniques du Théâtre' and the 'Conservatoire National Supérieure Musique et Danse' were presenting their large range of Courses and collaborations in the fields of Plastic Arts, Music and Performing Arts.

* 'Floating Worlds', The 14th Contemporary Art Biennale - From Septamber 20, 2017 to January 7, 2018.
-) More than 50 Artists are taking part to illustrate their 'Floating worlds'. Since its cCeation in 1991, Thierry Raspail, Artistic Director of the Biennale de Lyon, has asked Each Guest curator to think about a Keyword, assigned for Three Editions. The 2017 Biennale de Lyon is the Second Volume of a Trilogy around the Word 'Modernity', and it was with this Word that Thierry Raspail invited Emma Lavigne, Director of the Centre Pompidou-Metz, to imagine this 14th Edition, at the Sucrière and macLYON from 20 September 2017 to 07 January 2018.

* The Sino-French Institute of LYON :
-) n March 2014, the President of the Peoples´ Republic of China, Monsieur Xi Jinping, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monsieur Laurent Fabius and Senator-Mayor of Lyon, Monsieur Gérard Collomb inaugurated the “˜Lyon-China center´ and the Lyon Sino-French Institute History Museum. a Bronze Statue offered by the City Hall of Canton, was installed in the Institute´s Garden. Representing 10 Chinese Students at the IFCL, it symbolises 25 Years of Twinning of between the Two Cities. Concerned to maintain the Link between Exiled Students and their Homeland, the Institute acquired Several Thousand Works and more than Four Hundred Titles of Periodicals in Chinese.
